And it’s cold.
And it’s dark.
If any of you are ever thinking about taking on challenges like I’m doing, can I offer you a bit of advice?
Start by talking to your parents about when you are conceived.
Unfortunately my mother’s birthday was in May, which meant we were all born in March (2nd, 16th and 18th).
Yes, I know that doesn’t work out. But for years I couldn’t work out why we were all born in March, so I asked her.
Her reply? ‘Well haven’t you worked it out? It’s because my birthday’s in May’
‘Mum, that doesn’t work!’
‘Well it always took a bit of time to get him going.’
Anyway, that’s not the point. The point is that if my mother’s birthday had been in September I’d have been born in November. Then I’d have started these challenges during the worst time of the year weather wise, but I’d have been buoyed along by enthusiasm and the weather would have improved as ‘my’ year went on.
But I wasn’t.
I was born in March.
It’s now December and it’s cold and dark and winter’s only just started.
Spring doesn’t start until Wednesday 20th March 2013 – 4 days after THAT birthday!
That means the rest of this challenge will be done in the winter months. 😦
It is so much harder to make myself get out there to do stuff now but the whole point at the start of these challenges was that I could only fail if I showed lack of commitment and I’m not going to let that happen.
Here’s my progress so far, it’s week 38 which is 72% of the year. As you can see, I’m still ahead of schedule.
I HAVE DONE OVER ONE THOUSAND MILES ON FOOT!!!!!
And it’s only 18 days until the shortest day of the year so it will be getting lighter 🙂
Let’s just hope it doesn’t get too snowy or icy ……..
Hmmm and what happens today?
